Apt Media is an interactive design consultancy that builds sensible solutions to our clients’ design and communication challenges. Founded in 1998 as Kim Bieler Graphic Design, we have a diverse national client base of museums, law firms, consultancies, and not-for-profits.
Kim's roots are in information design—she spent her early years producing data-rich publications for the United Nations and the World Bank, including the Human Development Report and the World Development Indicators. She began designing for the web in 1994. Her interest has always been highly functional, user-centered design and in recent years she has become active in the interaction design and user experience communities.
Before starting her own company, she worked at Greenfield/Belser, Ltd. as a web designer and spent seven years with Communications Development Inc. as a designer and manager, creating publications and web sites for nonprofits and international development agencies. She supervised as many as eight print and web production staff and managed the day-to-day operations of the print division.
Kim runs the Silver Spring Design Lunch, a business roundtable for creative professionals, and is the local leader for the Washington DC chapter of the Interaction Design Association.
