ClearWriter

The old site


ClearWriter, a writing and editing training system, had an identity problem. The overarching brand is called ClearWriter, but this was also the name of the online product and there was a second product called ClearEdits with its own domain name and ordering system. Apt Media’s redesign merged the two sites and resolved the identity issue.

Apt’s redesign opens up the site and makes it feel more inclusive. After analyzing the writing system, we realized it was three aspects of the same product—online, downloadable, and in-person. The home page design uses these three categories to help customers identify which version is right for them.

A better checkout


The previous checkout system was nonstandard and therefore not confidence-inspiring for the customer. We consolidated both products into one checkout, passing data from one screen to the next on the back end, and designed the screens so they feel like a real shopping cart experience.

Adding a blog


We provided the client with a custom blog design and recommended which blogging software to use. We decided on Movable Type both for its powerful administrative tools and because it could be hosted at their domain. Visit the live ClearWriter site to see more.
