INFORMS before the redesign
Apt Media supplies subcontract web design to Beaconfire Consulting on a regular basis. Their client, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), needed a complete site redesign since their old website didn't reflect the breadth and sophistication of their organization.
The wireframe
After an initial kickoff meeting, Beaconfire supplied an initial wireframe and background documents as the basis for the design. Apt was one of two firms hired to supply an initial home page look for the client to choose from.
Apt makes the cut
The home page was dense and complex so we started with a strong grid and neutral, simplified color scheme to reduce visual noise. Our design was chosen and we make several rounds of changes to the home page based on client feedback.
The project expands
We designed 11 distinct subpages for the site, including a member profile dashboard, e-news page, audience-based portal, and search results page. Final deliverables included a comprehensive color and style guide for the developers.
