Mosaic Templars Kiosk

Background

Apt subcontracted with Quatrefoil Associates to design and built this touchscreen kiosk application. Our custom-built application allows visitors to see a list of known Mosaic lodges and encourages them to “help fill in the gaps” by filling out a postcard next to the kiosk with their own memories.

Inside the kiosk

From the main screen, visitors can view lodges by region or internationally. Each region shows a list of known lodges with uncertain or missing data highlighted in blue. Data can be sorted by touching any of the buttons at the top of the column. Or, visitors can opt to see only the incomplete records.

How we did it

The museum needs to be able to update the kiosk as new data is received. But with no network connection to the kiosk box, we were forced to improvise. We built the application to draw data from an Excel spreadsheet, a program the museum was already using. All they need to do is copy the new file into a folder on the desktop and the kiosk is updated automatically!
