The teaching kits
Our design for the "Luncheon of the Boating Party" teaching kit included over 150 pages of content, a custom binder, three posters, a CD-ROM, and transparencies. We coordinating the printing and assembly with multiple vendors. Thanks to the client's top-notch content, our second kit for Jacob Lawrence's "Migration Series" won a coveted educational award.
Memorable details
Apt’s design picks up the signature colors of Renoir's work and uses brush-stroke details to reinforce the artistic theme. Period typefaces resonate with the kit's social and historical curricula.
The Art of Healing
Apt designed this booklet to accompany an exhibit of artworks by children in hospital. Each piece was inspired by an existing painting in the Phillips Collection and the young artists were asked to comment on their own work.
Our design approach
Because the exhibit was so emotional, we strove to avoid sentimentality in the design, letting the art and the artists' voices speak for themselves. Both the Phillips Collection works and the exhibit works receive the same treatment, allowing visitors to judge each painting on its own merits.
Paul Klee poster
We designed this poster to be handed out to students at an open house. The long, wide format is suitable for hanging in a classroom and the design picks up Klee's scratchy, hieroglyphic style.
